With a love of auditing that’s infectious, Baumgartner Super Client Manager Albert Siew is passionate about helping trustees understand their rights and obligations to ensure compliance with the SIS Act and Regulations.

Albert’s experience as an external auditor equipped him with a more rounded approach which helps him think outside the square, identify potential issues around fraud and consider many more audit red flags and the implications, especially with respect to legal contraventions.

Armed with diverse experience and an eye for the finer detail, it’s not uncommon for Albert to pick up things that previous audit firms missed in prior years. He believes that being across a broader range of audit issues helps clients sleep better at night.

“I love auditing in general and, ultimately, we try to help people to comply and guide them on what they should do,” says Albert.

As Client Manager, Albert is responsible for supervising and helping juniors grow their professional careers and enhancing their audit knowledge, liaising with super fund clients to make sure they comply, and building strong relationships with all clients by identifying audit issues and guiding them on their options to finding appropriate solutions.

“I’d like to think that I can bring a level of insight into the ATO’s approach when making audit recommendations, then communicating those in terms our clients can understand, depending on their level of need and knowledge,” says Albert.

He enjoys helping and training others and believes in the workplace being an enjoyable environment for all.

“The environment at Baumgartner Super encourages all of us to identify our strengths in order to grow and progress in our careers. That not only enhances team interactions but also our client relationships,” Albert added.

Outside work, Albert is a dedicated dad who is always on hand to make sure his son gets to those all-important after-school commitments during the week. He is also the go-to person in the office when anyone needs a chocolate hit! Additionally, Albert is available to assist with the occasional translation or interpretation that might be required as part of the audit process.

After completing his Bachelor of Business (Accounting) in 2006, Albert began his career as a Business Services and External Auditor. Having worked with a diverse client base including not for profits, subsidiaries of foreign listed companies and trust accounts Albert switched his focus and specialisation to the SMSF industry in 2010 with a role at NAB Wealth (MLC) working in both SMSF audit and administration roles. Doing so provided him with a balanced understanding of both SMSF functions. He then joined Baumgartner Super in 2014.
